Prof.Huang An-lun was appointed as academic consultant of the historical research centre

World Renowned Composer Prof. Huang Anlun was appointed as the academic consultant of the Center for Historical Research, HKSKH. The appointment ceremony was held on 19 March 2024 at Garden Hotel, Shanghai.

Huang Anlun is a Modern Chinese Composer. He was the composer of China National Opera House. He graduated from the School of Music, Yale University. His representative works include the ballets “The Little Match Girl” and “The Dream of Dunhuang (敦煌夢)”; the Opera “Yue Fei (岳飛)”; the symphony “Phoenix (鳳凰)”; and the symphonic poem “Bayen-káras (巴顏喀拉).”His books include A Life Concerto from Heaven: A Collection of Essays by An-lun Huang (長歌一曲天外來, 2006). 

Since the middle of the 19th century, the Huang family has been involved in the history of Protestant Christianity in China as missionaries’ Chinese teacher, powerful promoters of the establishment of local churches, as well as the students of the Christian universities, shaping the multiple faces of four generations of Chinese Christians. As Christian musicians, they have left behind for the world valuable musical treasures brought by their faith. Among Huang vast works, there are a large number of sacred music works, such as “Requiem (安魂曲),”“David's Psalm---Psalm 22 (大衛之詩——詩篇22),”“Revelation (啟示錄),”“The Revelation of Joseph (約瑟的啟示)”and so on. The Huang family can be considered as a significant example of Christian musicians in China. Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui looks forward to working with Prof. Huang.
