Visit to the The Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony

The staff of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Archives visited The Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony (Arquivos Históricos Departamento Diocesano de Arquivos Históricos e Património Cultural, DDAHPC) on 14 November.

We are very grateful to Mr. Benedict Keith Ip, the Office Director, and a group of Roman Catholic sisters and colleagues for their warm hospitality. We visited the conservation workshop, repository, research room, conference room and exhibition hall, and were introduced in detail by Mr. Benedict Keith Ip and his colleagues to the archival management, conservation and publicity work of DDAHPC. In this pleasant exchange, both staff of the HKSKH Archives and DDAHPC were able to share their ideas and experiences with each other, and we believe that all of us could gain from the exchange.

The Diocese of Macau was established in 1576 and currently has nine parishes with about 30,000 church members.

The Diocesan Office of Historical Archives and Patrimony was established on 1 January 2023, and is located in Largo Sé Paço Episcopal, Macau. It is the administrative section under the Diocesan Curia, with the direct responsibility to the Diocesan Curia and manage historical documents and objects in accordance with the mandate of the Code of Canon Law and gives regular reports to the Church on its work.
