HKSKH Archives staff visit Roman Catholic Archives in Macau

Date: Friday 15 Feb 2019

The staff of the HKSKH Archives visited Macau on 15 February at the invitation of the Roman Chanceler of the Diocese, and Mr. Benedict Keith Ip, Secretary to the Bishop of Macau. The Diocesan Archives are located in Bishop’s House 主教公署 an contain material dating back to the 17th or 18th century. We were informed that some of the earliest materials from the 16th century are now in Lisbon and Rome. We were shown the rare painting of the death of the 16th century Japanese martyrs and viewed other archival materials, and also toured St. Joseph’s Seminary, which has many precious artefacts. HKSKH Archivist the Reverend Professor Philip Wickeri and Fr. Manuel agreed that there would be more exchanges between our two archives in the future.
