2025 HKSKH Archives Exhibition - Reaching Out to the People: Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, 1912 -1967

Date: Friday 24 Oct 2025
Organized by the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Archives, the exhibition “Reaching Out to the People: Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, 1912–1967” was successfully held at All Saints’ Cathedral from October 11 to 15 and October 17 to 18. Featuring sixteen curated themes, the exhibition outlined the development of the Anglicanism in Hong Kong, and by extension in Greater China, from 1912 to 1967. During the seven-day exhibition period, more than 600 visitors attended, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

The exhibition opened on the morning of October 11 with a simple yet meaningful opening ceremony held. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was officiated by the Revd Prof. Philip L. Wickeri, the Provincial Archivist of HKSKH, and the Very Revd Samson Fan, Dean of All Saints' Cathedral, marking the official start of the exhibition.

During the exhibition, our archives have received two precious old photos related to St. Matthew’s Church, generously donated by Mr. Leung. On the other hand, we were pleased to welcome student groups from four schools — All Saints’ Middle School, SKH Chan Young Secondary School, Munsang College, and St. Mark’s School — and organized guided tours to help the younger generation gain deeper insights into the history and values of the HKSKH.

The closing ceremony took place on the morning of October 18. We were deeply honored to have Archbishop Andrew Chan, Archbishop and Primate of HKSKH, as our Guest of Honor. A particularly special moment during the ceremony was the world premiere performance of "Psalm 126", composed by internationally renowned composer, Mr. Huang Aulun, Academic Research Advisor of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Research Centre. The piece was performed by the All Saints’ Cathedral Choir under his direction, providing a deeply moving conclusion to the closing ceremony.

We are also sincerely grateful for the presence of a number of priests, parishioners and the visitor who participated, particularly Prof. Zhuo Xinping, a prominent scholar of Chinese Christian studies, and his wife, whose presence added great distinction to the ceremony.

The success of this exhibition was made possible by everyone’s active participation and support. We are especially grateful to the Very Revd Samson Fan, Dean of All Saints' Cathedral, for providing us with the exhibition venue, and to the staff of All Saints' Cathedral for their tremendous assistance. Whether you were a visitor, a volunteer, an intern, your involvement has been a tremendous encouragement to our work.

Thank you once again for your enthusiastic support. We look forward to seeing you next year as we continue to share and preserve the history of HKSKH.
