Ms. Dosis P.S. Sin, JP, the Chief Executive Officer of Sik Sik Yuen, Mr. Wan Pui Man, the Vice-chairman of the Sik Sik Yuen Cultural Committee, and Ms. Elaine Ng, the Curator (II) of the Culture Centre for Wong Tai Sin Belief and Customs, accompanied 5 staff members of Sik Sik Yuen to visit the HKSKH Archives on 21 May 2025. Snice Sik Sik Yuen is currently preparing to establish an archive and hopes to learn from the experience of the HKSKH Archives through exploring archive management policy, exchanging experiences and deepening understanding of the preservation of historical collections.

During the visit, The Revd. Prof. Philip L. Wickeri, the Provincial Archivist, introduced the mission, vision, development and difficulties in archival work, and shared his unique insights and experience in archives management. Afterward, our staff discussed with the visiting group about setting up procedures and guidelines for archive management and the importance of establishing a comprehensive recordkeeping system. The visiting group was followed by a tour of the archives’ exhibits by Ms. Michelle Lin. In addition to explaining the historical stories behind the exhibits, we also shared appropriate storage methods for collections of different types and conditions. The visiting group was deeply interested in the history and preservation methods of the various collections, the atmosphere of lively exchanges was warm and pleasant.

We would like to thank Sik Sik Yuen for its interest and support of the HKSKH Archives. We also hope that Sik Sik Yuen will gain success in establishing the archives, and look forward to more opportunities for communication in the future.
