This is the only sourcebook on the work of John Ross, a pioneering missionary to northeast China. A research and publication project of the Institute of the History of Christianity in Korea in 2016, this primary sourcebook project started to collect all the primary sources of the Rev. Dr. John Ross (1842-1915) and make them available to researchers as a sourcebook.

This primary sourcebook contains

1.      the ‘John Ross Version’ New Testament, Revisions, and his Bible Commentaries;

2.      the minutes of both Foreign Mission Board of the United Presbyterian Church and the Foreign Mission Committee of the United Free Church of Scotland;

3.      letters of both the Board and the Committee to John Ross;

4.      reports and essays of John Ross to both institutions;

5.      documents concerning the congregations, presbyteries, the Home Mission Board, and the Synod of the Churches in Scotland;

6.      documents concerning the Chinese Church in Manchuria, Scottish Mission, and missionary conferences in China;

7.      books published by Ross;

8.      his essays in periodicals;

9.      Ross, his family, and their hometown, and, lastly;

Appendix I: the general catalogue of the research on Ross that was conducted so far;

Appendix II: timeline of the Rev. John Ross.
