Scout Association of Hong Kong Visits HKSKH Archives

Date: Saturday 24 Jun 2017

A visit to the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Archives was organized by the Scout Association of Hong Kong as part of their annual religious visit programme for their youth members.  Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui was one of the religious organizations they visited.  A group of 21 people composed of the Association’s Chief Commissioner, Deputy Chief Commissioner, adult leaders and youths visited our Archives in the morning of 24th June 2017 and had an exchange meeting with our Provincial Archivist, Revd Dr. Philip L. Wickeri.  After the meeting, they toured our exhibited archives.  There has been a longstanding relationship established between the Scout Association of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui since the era of the Diocese of South China.  Our former Assistant Bishop Halward (1946-1951) was very active in scouting.   In our collections, we possess early correspondences between our Church and their Association, the Association’s Constitutions, minutes, activity programme and certificate etc.  The visit had very special meaning and enhanced our mutual understanding. The scout leaders expressed enthusiasm and hope to visit us again next year.
